Why most grounds disappoint

A multi-sport field is only as good as what's under it.

Most projects fail on the invisible layers — drainage, soil profile, turf clay. By the time it shows, the contractor is gone. Here's what we see go wrong before clients call us.

Waterlogged multi-sport field
01 / Drainage

Two days of rain, a week of waiting

Outfields built without a proper sub-soil drainage profile stay waterlogged. Matches get called off and the surface degrades season after season.

multi-sport turf surface
02 / The surface

A surface that won't hold up

Poor sub-base preparation and incorrect turf selection lead to uneven surfaces, dead zones, and high player injury risk. Players notice immediately.

Indian contractors arguing
03 / Many vendors

Five contractors, zero accountability

Civil, turf, lights and seating handled by different vendors means finger-pointing when something fails. You become the project manager you never wanted to be.

One contract · the whole ground

Everything a multi-sport facility needs, built by one team.

You don't coordinate ten vendors. We own the ground end to end — from the survey peg to the last floodlight.

Veera Bhadra Reddy
A message from the founder

"We don't just build grounds. We engineer the playing experience."

Having witnessed too many sports infrastructure projects fail due to fragmented vendor accountability and poor sub-surface engineering, I founded VBR Group to bring single-point responsibility to sports field construction. From the drainage profile to the final floodlight, we own the outcome — so you can focus on the game.

PLAYABLE
OR WE
RETURN

Our playable-surface commitment

Every ground we hand over is built to drain, bounce and play to the standard agreed at design stage. If the surface doesn't meet the spec at handover, we set it right — at our cost. That's the whole point of a single accountable team.

Before you ask

Questions owners ask us first.

How long does it take to build a multi-sport field? +

A match-grade ground with turf and drainage typically takes 4–7 months including grass establishment. A full turnkey stadium with seating, pavilion and floodlights runs 12–18 months depending on scale. We lock the timeline at design stage.

How much land do I need for a multi-sport facility? +

A standard multi-sport field needs roughly 2–3 acres for the field of play and run-offs. Add spectator seating, pavilion, parking and practice areas and you're looking at 5–8 acres. We confirm the exact fit during the free site survey.

Do you build to FIFA / AIFF standards? +

Yes. Pitch dimensions, sub-base profile, surface grading and floodlight lux levels are built to the relevant standards for the level of multi-sport you intend to host, so your fixtures can be sanctioned.

Can you renovate an existing ground instead of building new? +

Absolutely. Re-laying pitches, upgrading to synthetic surfaces and retrofitting drainage into a waterlogged ground are among our most common projects. The survey tells us what to keep and what to rebuild.

Do you work outside your home state? +

Yes — we deliver pan-India and have built across nine states. Our teams mobilise to site, and we account for regional climate and soil in the design.

What happens after handover? +

A ground is a living surface. We hand over with a groundsmanship plan and offer ongoing maintenance — mowing, aeration, top-dressing, turf care — so the surface keeps playing true for years.
